Sophomore Abigale Morris helped lead Canyon View to their most successful season in school history by placing 29th at the recent State Championships in Tuscon, Arizona.

“Overall state is an experience I will never forget. Whether it was the ride there, the people I encountered, or just the golf in general it was all a blast,” Morris said.

Although state can be overwhelming, Morris welcomed the experience.

“Although at times the course was difficult it was also extremely rewarding and had a beautiful layout,” Morris said. “It was an opportunity to get kinda out of my comfort zone in a whole new environment with different people and I thoroughly enjoyed every piece of it.”

Throughout the season, Morris came upon familiar faces and new ones.

“The support we got gave me a lot of overwhelming joy,” Morris said. “I was able to reconnect with some of my other golf friends and teams and I also made new connections and relationships.”

“Next season looks so promising for girls golf,” first-year coach Scott Jones said. “We have some amazing girls returning, and players who have fallen in love with the game. I expect us to contend as a team next year, and hopefully by seasons end, we will be traveling as a group to the state championship. “
