Longtime Sahuaro girls soccer coach Dave Kruszewski (1998-current) picked up his 300th career victory Tuesday night at home against Canyon del Oro. The 3-0 victory brings Sahuaro (11-3-1) to 8-0-1 in power-ranking matches and 1-0-1 in the 4A Kino Region.

The Cougars entered the match ranked No. 3 in the 4A Conference with three matches left which would be the team’s highest ranking since earning a top seed in the 2013 playoffs. That team was upset by No. 8 Sahuarita in PKs in the quarterfinal round.

Kruszewski’s 2009 squad lost to Flowing Wells in the 4A-I state championship in a heartbreaker, 1-0 5-4 PK.

His first standout was BYU’s Lydia Ojuka (All-State 1999 and 2000). Ojuka’s first goal of her collegiate career was against Arizona. His latest standout appears to be senior forward Nayeli Vidal. Vidal leads the Cougars with 21 goals and 46 points and she will be playing for Pima next year.
