Top-seeded Camp Verde relied heavily on the inside presence of senior post Jacy Finley on Friday morning to keep pace with upset-minded No. 12 Valley Sanders. The Cowboys got a heck of a bonus with time running out in regulation and down by three points from their enforcer.

Finley ended up with the ball just beyond he three-point arc and drilled the shot to send the game to overtime and eventually stave off the Pirates in overtime, 56-49 in a 2A girls semifinal at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

It was the only shot Finley attemped all game from three-point range. Finley finished  with a double-double not often seen - 25 points and 24 rebounds. Camp Verde (29-2) plays for the title Saturday against No. 3 Thatcher at 2 p.m. at VMC.. Thatcher took care of No. 10 St. Johns in the other semifinal that kicked off an eight-game slate of 2A and 3A boys and girls semifinals contests.Valley Sanders ended its season with a 17-10 record.

Finley got offensive help from Amanda Lozanilla with 14 points. Lozanilla sank four of four free throws late in overtime to seal the win. Finley's bucket with 1:30 left in the extra period broke the final tie (49-all). Dana Yazzie paced Valley Sanders with 22 points and her three-point shot late in regulation almost stood up for the win. Erin Mitchell added 11 points for the Pirates. 

 #3 THATCHER 49, #10 ST. JOHNS 36: The Eagles (27-4) won every quarter and pulled away in the third period outscoring the Redskins 15-9 to earn a berth in the championship game. Cassidy Wakefield scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the second half after battling foul trouble in the first half. Wakefield added 11 rebounds and four assists. Teammate Taya Baldwin chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds as the Eagles return to the title game for the first time since 2016 when they won their most recent championship. Thatcher extended its winning streak to 23 games.

Brooke Patterson led St. Johns with 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Redskins finished the year 24-7. St. Johns down double-digits in the fourth quarter, cut the deficit to 43-36 with 3:41 to play, but ran out of gas at that point. St. Johns hurt itself making only 3 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter.
