Breaking news on Tuesday, November 3, for Notre Dame Prep students, faculty, and fans. Someone in the Notre Dame Prep football program has come down with Covid-19. Notre Dame Prep will be shutting down the football program from the next two weeks.

The games over the next two weeks will not be rescheduled. This Friday's game on November 6, was to be the Saints' senior night. These seniors will potentially be unable to play the final home game of their high school career.

The Saints will be taking these two weeks to quarantine. There will be no practices or workouts. The teams will return after the two weeks and play their final game of the season.

It remains undecided how this will impact the Saints' playoff picture, but players remain hopeful that they will earn a final chance to play at home.

The varsity football game scheduled against Gilbert High School on Friday, November 6, was set to be a matchup that the Saints would be favored to win. The Gilbert Tigers are currently 1-4 on the season, and 0-2 within their section. The Tigers won their first game of the season and went on to drop the next four..

The second varsity game in line for Friday, November 13, was scheduled against Saguaro High School. The Saguaro Sabercats are 3-1 on the season and have scored at least 27 points in their three wins. The most points the Sabercats had scored were 70 against the Maricopa Rams, the team the Saints had just played on October 30. Saguaro is ranked third in Arizona. This matchup would have been a tough one for the Saints. They will elude this powerhouse program, but also miss the opportunity to score a memorable upset.
