Cactus Shadows senior Calynne Rosholt shot a 1-under par 72 on Tuesday to clinch the AIA Division II state championship held at the OMNI Tucson National Catalina Course. The ASU commit entered the final round with a four-stroke lead over the pack and she finished with a combined 141 (-5) to hold off a trio of golfers from Ironwood Ridge.

Nighthawks standouts Zoe Newell, Hannah Ports and Raina Ports came in with identical scores of 149 (+3) to help secure the second consecutive state championship for the program. As a team, the Nighthawks entered the day with a comfortable lead but the 305 to 296 margin gave way thanks to the play of Rosholt and her teammate Kylee Loewe who shot a 3-under 70 on the final day to help bring things even at one point.

Raina Ports birdied the 14th and Hannah Ports birdied the 17th to give the Nighthawks breathing room and the team came into the tent with a 603 to 605 victory. Catalina Foothills took third place for the second year in a row.

Ironwood Ridge held off Cactus Shadows 592 to 597 last year. This is the first back-to-back finish for a team from Tucson since Salpointe did it in 2011 and 2012.
