Jenna Gagnon is a sophomore on the GCHS Women’s Soccer team. She has been playing soccer since she was five years old and continues to work hard playing the sport she loves to this day. “Soccer has taught me that you have to work hard for what you want to accomplish,” she says. A sport takes a lot of hard work and dedication that can also be transferred into how people live their daily lives.

Last season, the GCHS Women’s soccer team pulled through with a big win at the division 3A state championship. This win was a major accomplishment and continues to be one of her best soccer memories so far. This year has looked slightly different from the last, but she explains it has still been a great experience. “We’ve got a lot of new super talented players this season, especially with getting our season taken away for a few days, I think we all are so much more grateful for the opportunity to play,” says Jenna.

In fact, there were so many girls participating in the soccer program this year, that the team was split into two, JV and Varsity. Both of the teams are looking forward to a great season and have already made some great memories. Jenna’s favorite memories so far, she says, are, “game days are always super fun, especially on the van!”

Due to COVID-19 regulations the season was uncertain if it was to be continued, however, in the end, the season pulled through and she expresses that she has never been more motivated to give it her all. The Varsity Women’s soccer team has won six out of seven games so far and had their first home game on Tuesday, February 2nd, taking the victory. The team has already many highlights including a mercy roll during the Florence game, and their goalie making three goals in one game. Jenna and the team are off to a great start and are very hopeful of what the rest of this season has in store for them.
