Saturday, defending state champion Knights took a step closer in their journey knocking off  #13 ALA Gilbert North 2-1. They will face the #1 seed, Northwest Christian, on Friday night, March 19 at Coronado High School.

ALA North had defeated #4 Fountain Hills 2-1 to make the quarterfinals with Gilbert Christian. According to Gilbert Christians' standout senior defender Kari Shearl, the Knights "absolutely dominated the first half. The first goal was made by [freshman] Daniella Orellana rushing the goal during a corner kick." Orellana's freshman debut has been strong, often coming away with goals, particularly with headers off the corner. The lady Knight's balanced scoring attack is lead by freshmen forward Shaylee Earnheart logging her 19th goal of the season. Earnheart's shot from way out slid through ALA's keepers' hands.

The defense of Gilbert Christian has been a force this year and they stood strong during the second half. Lead by senior keeper Emma Borgman who has defended the Knights goal from all comers. Her style is aggressive and stingy in the box. The Knights defense has helped the team get this far. There is still more to accomplish.

The Knights will face the undefeated Crusaders this Friday. "As long as we all put in our best effort, I know we can make it to the State Championship for the second time!" Shearl added, with confidence and pride in the Knights. 

If the Knights play their game of soccer, there's no stopping them. Repeat, no stopping.
