The top three ranked Division II golfers in the state competed at the Flowing Wells Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Silverbell Golf Course in Tucson and the finish on Saturday was everything one would expect. Catalina Foothills sophomore Finn Meister is the top-ranked golfer in the state and he held off the second-ranked golfer in Salpointe senior Carlos Astiazaran by one stroke, 135 to 136.

Meister was 2-under-par through the first nine holes on Saturday and Astiazaran was 2-over. Astiazaran went on to collect five birdies down the stretch to force a tie with Meister heading into the final hole but Meister picked up a birdie on the 18th to secure the victory with a 5-under 135.

Sabino standout Jake Myre took third with a 2-over 142. The third-ranked golfer in the state, defending state champion Brasen Briones of Ironwood Ridge, came in sixth place. The Nighthawks had four golfers finish in the top ten to help lead Ironwood Ridge to the team title.
