Brophy Prep dominated team and individual events at the annual Wolves Classic Swim and Dive Invitational while Desert Vista had just enough to claim the girls title over Chaparral this past weekend at the Chandler High Aquatics Center. Five meet records were set -- four on the girls side and one by the boys.

Brophy totales 367.5 points with Desert Vista second at 203.5 and Catalina Foothills third with 167.5. The girls title was decided until the final event -- 400 relay. Desert Vista finished second and Chaparral fourth in that event. That allowed Desert Vista to make up a two-point deficit and win the meet by two points. Desert Vista finished with 287 points, Chaparral 285 and Hamilton was third with 213.

Four Brophy swimmers earned first-place finishes in an individual event and two relays -- Jack Blake, Alex Gomez, AJ Frakes and Michael Niezgodzski. Blake took gold in the 200-yard free, 200-medley relay and 400 free relay; Gomez in the 200 IM, 200 medley-relay and 400 free relay; Frakes in the 50 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay and Niezgodzski in the 500 free, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Frakes set the lone boys meet record, completing the 200 free in 20.70 seconds. That was .01 of a second faster than Blake swam in the 2014 meet.

Josh Vedder led runner-up Desert Vista with wins in the 100 free and 100 back and teammate Aaron Beauchamp won the 100 breast. Rounding out event event winners is Chandler's Michael Klauss (100 fly).

There was more variety in event winners for the girls with ladies from the maximum eight different schools taking home an individual crown. Topping the list were meet-record setters Chaparral's Taylor Ruck  in the 200 free, Desert Vista's Shae Nicolaisen in the 100 fly and Hamilton's McKenzee Gordon in the 500 free. Other winners were Arcadia's Sydney Carlson (200 IM), Xavier Prep's Mary Roediger  (50 free), Highland's Kyla Yetter (100 free), Perry freshman Kalli Fama (100 back) and Chandler's Marina McInelly (100 breast). No school dominated the relays either as Chaparral (200 medley), Desert Vista (200 free) and Hamilton (400 free) prevailed. Chaparral set a meet record in the 200 medley relay.

Winners in diving were Chaparral's Braden Huffman and Sandra Day O'Connor's Kady Eller. Huffman (463.40) won by a wide margin over runner-up McClintock's Jacob Hoo (390.55). Eller's victory was a tight over Xavier's' Alyssa Largay (383.00 to 381.65).
