April 7-8: Salpointe Catholic

Cienega went 5-0 to win the Salpointe Lancer Volleyball Invitational. The Bobcats dominated play, dropping only one set along the way, and that lone loss came in the championship match against Salpointe on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats took the first set, 25-19 but the Lancers tied things up with a 25-22 win in the second set. Luke Wallace came up big for Salpointe with five kills in the first set and nine more in the second but the Lancer attack was stalled in the final set and Cienega took it 15-10.

The Bobcats featured an even attack with Skyler Cavanaugh, Colton Todd and Alex Muszynski taking turns at the net.

Cienega is the top-ranked team in 5A and Salpointe is No. 4.

Marana Mountain View won the Silver Bracket with a 25-21, 27-25 win over Tucson.
