Chandler Hamilton appears to be ready to stake its claim to the new Division I football championship in Arizona.

The Huskies got off to a good start in the summer by defeating Tucson Sabino on Saturday night (June 25) in the 31-team Surprise passing league tournament. The title game and third-place game were played at halftime of the Arizona-Southern California All-Star Game.

Peoria Centennial captured third place by defeating Phoenix North Canyon.

Centennial coach Richard Taylor said he was pleased with the effort.

“We played 10 or 12 games today, and the kids stuck with it. We got to see how a lot of our “twos’ (second-unit), see how they competed and they did pretty well,’’ Taylor said.
