April 23, 2019 by Oree Foster, AZPreps365

Chinle's Jayden Guy was selected Player of the Year and Wildcats' skipper Charles Don KImbrough was named Coach of the Year, as the 3A North Region announced its post season honors.

Guy helped lead Chinle to a 9-1 record in the 3A North Region and to the 3A North Regional Tournament championship. The Wildcats are 19-7 overall with a freedom game remaining on its schedule. Chinle is number 16 in the latest statewide power rankings. The Wildcats face the Show Low Cougars today.

Kimbrough was selected 3A North Region Coach of the Year. Kimbrough said he credits his assistant coaches for his honor.

"My assistant coaches are helpful," Kimbrough said. "It's great to win honors. I work together with my assistant coaches every day in practice and in ball games. My assistant coaches are very productive. Without the assistant coaches, we wouldn't have been been in first place in the regular season region standings and winning the regional tournament championship."
