McClintock's Eduardo Roa and Desert Vista's Brittany Tretbar were the individual varsity winners Wednesday at the annual Tempe City Cross Country Meet at Kiwanis Park

Roa finished 10 seconds ahead of runner-up Carter Macey of Desert Vista. Roa's winning time was 16 minutes, 8 seconds. Finishing third was Corona del Sol's Jake Whitney, fourth was Corona's Nate Rodriguez and fifth was Desert Vista's Ryan Dykstra. Desert Vista captured the boys team title.

On the girls side, Tretbar edged Desert Vista teammate Jenna Maack for the top spot. Tretbar's winning time was 19:18, besting Maack by eight seconds. Following Tretbar and Maack were Corona de Sol's Hallie Swenson (third), Mountain Ponte's Cera Hassinan (fourth) and Desert Vista's Reann Rivera (fifth). Desert Vista easily won the girls team title.
