Preview: Chandler at Hamilton

November 10, 2011 by Game Previews, AZPreps365

What better way to reach Round 2 of the playoffs and possibly the state championship than by beating your rival? That is what Chandler is facing as they prep to battle Hamilton once more. This time it isn’t just for bragging rights, it’s for a run at the championship.  Their foe is the reigning state champion who has knocked off opponents with ease; except when they played Chandler earlier in the regular season on September 30.  That game proved to be a real test for the Huskies, who pulled out a win when Chandler played a less than attractive fourth quarter.

Chandler isn’t trying to repeat history.  Instead, they are looking for redemption.  A chance to end the Huskies winning streak and advance past their rivals to fight for the title Hamilton currently holds. Last week they battled to the very end against Westview.  That 35-34 win in double overtime has given them the opportunity to play Hamilton once more and attempt to knock them out of the championship running.

Hamilton had little trouble last week against Valley Vista, a game they won 37-7.  Look for the Huskies to have fixed the mistakes made last time they played the Wolves.  This will be a fight to the finish as cross-town rivals battle for a chance to be a state championship contender.
