Saturday's prep radio show lineup

The best two hours of local sports talk radio?

Hands down it’s the Arizona Sports Preps 365 show on 620 AM.

Of course we are biased. But our aia365.com colleagues deserve a lot of love for the work they put in to promote high school sports on the radio every Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m.

I don’t know yet if there’s any truth to the rumor that the radio show’s “El Jefe,” Pablo Rios, sleeps at 620’s headquarters. Rios and his Dream Team (Jim GrieshaberCraig Grialou, Kandace Hurdle) have another busy Saturday set up for listeners, including an interview with University of Arizona assistant and former Chaparral football coach Charlie Ragle.

Ragle’s team is preparing to travel to Phoenix to practice for a day at Phoenix College. Chandler athletic director Dave Shapiro also will be interviewed.

Chandler is hosting the 90-plus team Chandler Rotary track meet, which ends Saturday afternoon.

Other topics the 620 team will discuss:

Sollenberger Classic, Mountain View-Red Mountain March 30 baseball game at Chase Field, and the student led Liquid Hope Project. The Liquid Hope Project aims to build and repair groundwater wells in Haiti.

High school sports and humanitarian efforts. Where else can you get that type of coverage?

Besides 620 AM in the Valley, high school sports fans from around the state can listen to the show on KCYK 1400 Yuma, KVNA 600 Flagstaff, KVNA 104.7 FM Flagstaff, and KNTR 980 Lake Havasu.
