Amy Baray-Rocha was part of Salpointe's two state championships (1993 and 1996) and then moved on to help Central Arizona win a national championship in 1997. Rocha finished out her college career playing for the University of Arizona.

Current Arizona assistant Stacy Iveson was the Lancer's head coach during the team's first championship season and Rocha credits Iveson for everything she accomplished on the field and she hopes to pass that knowledge on.

"Stacy taught me everything I needed to know," explained Rocha. "She taught me how to lead a team, the proper way to play my position and helped me get to the next level. I have patterned my coaching style after her."

Rocha has been coaching youth and club for about eight years before taking over at Salpointe. She sees plenty of promise in her athletes and it all began in the fall.

"We have great senior leadership and we saw how hard they worked with Carla Garrett (Salpointe strength coach) in the weight room. Now it's time to show it on the field," she added.
