All the 6A Southern Region teams have a bye week.

Cienega (5-0) at Salpointe (4-1) and Amphitheater (3-2) vs. Sahuarita (1-4) are the only non-region games in Southern Arizona.

Sabino (4-1, 2-0) looks to improve to 3-0 in the 3A South Region which will set up a big game at home against region foe Pusch Ridge (3-2, 1-0) on Oct. 7.

Tombstone (4-1, 1-0) travels to Santa Cruz (4-0, 0-0) for a huge 2A South battle.

There are only three weeks left in the 1A regular season. St. David (4-1, 2-0) and Valley Union (4-1, 2-0) play each other in the final week.

Desert View (5-0) should move to 6-0 on the year with a game against Cholla (1-4) on Friday but the Jaguars will test that record the following Friday at Mountain View (4-1).

Former Lancer Jamarye Joiner will attempt to lead Cienega against his old team on Friday. Tucson’s DJ Hinton (also a former Lancer) was able to help the Badgers defeat Salpointe in September.

Ironwood Ridge (4-1) vs. Mountain View (4-1) is THE Southern Arizona rivalry game. Shame this 5A Southern Region game wasn’t schedule in a few weeks.

There are only four region games in the 5A Southern and Sonoran Regions. Stakes are high.

The Flowing Wells (3-2) vs. Marana (3-2) game will set up which team will battle Desert View for the Sonoran Region title.
