Mountain Pointe's baseball team broke its school record of 60 home runs in a season last week and is in sight of surpassing the state record with five regular-season games and  playoffs still to come.

The state record for homers in a season is 76 set by Ahwatukee neighbor Desert Vista back in 1999. Mountain Pointe enters a three-game week with 64 homers. The Pride plays at home Tuesday (Perry), Wednesday (Hamilton) and Thursday (Marcos de Niza at Phoenix Municipal Stadium at 7 p.m.). Their final regular-season games next week are against Casa Grande at home and Skyline on the road.

Mountain Pointe's home-run parade is led by Kevin Cron (17), Joey Curletta (16) and Jordan Kipper (8).
