January 20, 2017 by Andy Morales, AZPreps365

The Gregory School standout Nick Rosquist scored 33 points in a 71-40 win over Tombstone on Thursday night. The senior is averaging 28.8 points a game which is tops in Arizona.

Rosquist is believed to be sixth on the All-Time Career Scoring list from Southern Arizona, only 73 points behind former Amphitheater great Tim Derksen (1,979). Only four players from Southern Arizona have ever scored more than 2,000 career points. Former Santa Rita standout Terrell Stoglin scored 2,901 points from 2009-13 to lead the list.

Pueblo standouts Alicia Reyes and Araceli Loya broke 1,000 career points earlier this year as did Walden Grove’s Conner Verdugo, Duncan’s Christopher Corona, Sunnyside’s Mikey Silva and Andrew Reyna of St. Augustine.

Leila El-Ali of Canyon del Oro and Taylor Thompson of The Gregory School broke 1,000 during the winter break. The Gregory School standout Addison Mort broke 1,000 career points during the break also.

Sahuaro standout Elena Arriaga broke 1,000 this week.
