Scottsdale Christian bounced back from its only loss and now, according to three-way threat Ben Tobin, is ready to "shock the valley.''

"We believe we can go all the way,'' the wide receiver/cornerback/returner said after the Eagles 56-6 victory over Veritas Prep.

Tobin finished with two touchdowns. One was scored as a receiver and the other as a defensive back off of an interception.

“He has more athletic ability in that body than most kids I’ve ever coached,” Cauley said. “He could get his education paid for by playing football if he wants to.”

From the opening kickoff, the Eagles (3-1) were in full control of the game.

A series of quick strikes on both sides of the ball had Veritas staring at a 21-0 deficit in the first quarter and 42-6 bulge at the half.

The first quarter statement was encouraging for the Eagles.

Two weeks ago, Valley Christian beat Scottsdale Christian 38-21.

“We tried a few different things against Valley (Christian), we knew that was going to be a tougher team,” coach Jason Cauley said. “This week we were trying to get back to our base plays and our base offense.”

Shayne Pahnke, who led the way on the ground with 144 yards, added: “We just kept it simple and focused on the plays we like to run.”

Scottsdale Christian’s next game is Friday against Tempe Prep at Mesa Community College.
