Centennial girls volleyball hosted their annual Student Impact Night during their game against Ironwood on Tuesday. The Coyotes invited teachers, coaches, and staff members to be thanked and honored for making an impact on their playing careers and personal lives.

"Impact Night is really a cool thing because you get to see the teachers and coaches who have made a significant difference, whether it's when they were younger or just last year, and they get to come watch them," JV head coach Charlotte Pottle said. "When you contact those teachers and coaches, they get so excited."

Senior Kailee Foster chose her Future Teachers Academy teacher, Jenna Ely, to join her. "I picked (Ms. Ely) because she's the adult version of me. She brings excitement to the classroom every single day," Foster said. "She makes a difference with how she teaches and she makes me excited to be in her class."

Ely also expressed her excitement to join Foster. "I feel like it means a lot, especially with the Future Teachers class, that I am making an impact," Ely said. "I really love what I do, so it's nice to know that I'm reaching these kids."

Not only were teachers thanked, but coaches who have helped shape the players' careers were as well. Junior Nyjha Marcelin explained how varsity head coach Cari Bauer has impacted her life. "I didn't know anyone before coming to Centennial, and (Bauer) helped me open up to new people," Marcelin said. "She always said 'Be you' and 'You don't have to change who you are.' I'm happy because the people around here accepted me."

To top off the special day, the Coyotes had a program sweep against the Eagles, with varsity, JV, and the freshman team winning all their matches.
