Casteel (white) and Williams Field are the top two teams from the loaded 5A San Tan Region which could qualify all 6 teams for the playoffs. (AZPreps365 photo).

6A

Basha (6-2) at Brophy Prep (6-3)

Tucson (5-3) at Chandler (7-1)

Desert Vista (7-1) at Corona del Sol (1-7)

Mountain Pointe (4-4) at Desert Ridge (3-5)

Kofa (0-8) at Dobson (1-7)

Perry (6-2) at Hamilton (3-5)

Chaparral (5-3) at Pinnacle (7-1)

Highland (7-1) at Queen Creek (7-1)

Mesa (3-5) at Red Mountain (6-2)

Mountain View (3-5) at Skyline (3-5)

North (2-6) at Westwood (4-4)

Highland-Queen Creek is marquee game in Central Region as both competing for region title and power-ranking positions in the top 8 or better. The Central is a three-team race among Queen Creek (#3 in PR),  Highland (#6) and Desert Vista (#7). Should Queen Creek and Desert Vista win this week the region title goes to Week 11's winner between Queen Creek and Desert Vista. Mountain Pointe, despite its .500 record, helped itself beating Chaparral last week and moved to #9 in PR. Mtn. Pointe closes with Desert Ridge and Corona trying to crack the top 8. Desert Ridge is clinging to a playoff spot at present at #14 with games against Mountain Pointe and Highland remaining. Perry jumped from #7 to #5 with its win over Brophy. Chaparral (#13 in PR) closes with two tough games with Pinnacle and Liberty and is likely to be without quarterback Jack Miller for those. Miller reportedly suffered a sprained knee in the loss to Mountain Pointe.

5A

Williams Field (7-1) at Campo Verde (6-2)

Cactus Shadows (3-5) at Desert Mountain (2-6)

Higley (6-2) at Gilbert (4-4)

Paradise Valley (6-2) at Horizon (4-4)

Casteel (6-2) at Maricopa (4-4)

North Canyon (2-7) at McClintock (3-5)

Williams Field controls its destiny in the San Tan Region race closing with Campo Verde and Higley. However, since Williams Field knocked off Casteel three weeks ago, Casteel seems to be playing the best of the six teams in the region. At present all  six teams in the region would be postseason bound. The lone team on the bubble perhaps is Maricopa (#16 this week in PR). Horizon jumped to #14 from #16 in PR and is in position to win out.

4A

Poston Butte (3-5) at Arcadia (5-3)

Washington (2-6) at Combs (3-5)

Apache Junction (5-3) at Glendale (8-0)

Mesquite (5-3) at Marcos de Niza (1-7)

Saguaro (7-1) at Seton Catholic (7-1)

Greenway (7-1) at Tempe (6-2)

Region titles are on the line in two games involving East Valley schools against westside schools. Greenway-Tempe winner decides the Skyline Region crown Friday - a win Tempe (#22 in PR) needs more since that's the Buffs only avenue to postseason. Greenway is #14 at present. Glendale-Apache Junction do battle Friday for the Black Canyon title. Glendale is currently #3 in oower rankings one of only two unbeaten teams in the conference. Apache Junction is No. 28. The Desert Sky Region crown likely boils down to Saguaro and Mesquite. If both take care of business this week, they meet Week 11 for region honors. After a 5-0 start, Arcadia has fallen from the top 16 and is #20. The Titans could resurrect themselves to postseason status with wins over Poston Butte and Marcos de Niza in its final two games, but that's a dicey propostion.

3A

Arizona College Prep (1-7) at American Leadership Gilbert North (4-5)

Ben Franklin (4-4) at American Leadership Ironwood (1-7)

Florence (2-6) at American Leadership Queen Creek (6-2)

Valley Christian (5-3) at Bourgade Catholic (5-3)

Gilbert Christian (2-6) at Fountain Hills (4-4)

Coronado (1-7) at Odyssey Institute (7-1)

Coolidge (6-2) at San Tan Foothills (3-5)

Gilbert Christian-Fountain Hills square off Friday and the winner most likely earns a state berth as Metro East Region champ. Fountain HIlls (#14) could still get an at-large berth if it loses, but Gilbert Christian (#30) must be all in to win to reach the playoffs.

2A

Heritage Academy (0-9) at Scottsdale Christian (6-2) - Oct. 18

Chandler Prep (6-2) at San Carlos (1-7)

Veritas Prep (4-4) at Scottsdale Prep (4-3)

Globe (4-4) at Tempe Prep (3-6)

Chandler Prep (#12 in PR) can officially lock up the Gila Region title by beating San Carlos. Scottsdale Christian (#12 in PR) figures to prevail this week and closes next week with Phoenix Christian (#9 in PR). Phoenix Christian, Arizona Lutheran (#4) and SCA are the contenders for the region title with two games left.

1A playoffs first round

Joseph City (5-3) at Fort Thomas (6-2)

Anthem Prep (4-4) at Hayden (5-3)

Duncan (5-3) at Arete Prep (6-2)

Ray (4-4) at Bagdad (6-3)

Arete Prep got what it wanted with its tight road win last week at Fort Thomas -- a home playoff game and moved up two slots in the process. Arete edged the South Region champs, 42-36. Quarterback Matthew McClelland passed for 273 yards and 5 TDs  with Ben White, Brennan Weir, Noah McClelland and Bryce Carrington doing the damage rushing and receiving. Arete Prep's region -- the East - has four playoff teams. That's the most of the four regions in the conference.
