Cross Country: Flagstaff girls. Page boys garner Holbrook Invitational title

The Flagstaff Lady Eagles and Page Sand Devils easily garnered titles at the Holbrook Cross Country Invitational at Hidden Cove Golf Course on Friday.

Flagstaff placed four runners in the top five and its fifth runner finished 14th place, en route to earning the  female team championship with an outstanding 25 points. Runner-up Ganado Lady Hornets netted 75 points.

Flagstaff senior Hana Hall crossed the finish line in first place, touring the 5K course in 18:29. Lady Eagles teammate, freshman Mia Hall claimed runner-up, posting a 19:16.

The Lady Eagles' third finisher was junior Allie Thurgood, who crossed the finish line in fourth place, with a 19:53 showing. Flagstaff senior Anna Harmon copped fifth place, posting a 19:53. The Lady Eagles' fifth scoring runner was sophomore Breana Biggambler, who finished 14th place, with a 20:47 showing.

Chinle freshman Tenyra Bia finished third place, negotiating the course in 19:34.

Snowflake sophomore Hallie Nichols was clocked in 19:54 for sixth place. Lady Lobos teammate, junior Mignon Ritz finished seventh place with a 20:10 showing.

Ganado freshman Miarissa Shorty posted a 20:21 for eighth place and Lady Hornets' teammate sophomore Whitney James rounded out the top 10 with a 20:28.

Coconino senior Kaelynn Ashley garnered ninth place, clocking a 20:21.2.

Third place in the female team standings was Snowflake with 89 points. Female top 10 team scores were as follows, Mingus 140, Coconino 152, Chinle 170, Window Rock 187, Northland Prep 204, Blue Ridge 257 and Many Farms 290.

Page won the male team championship with 34 points. Sand Devils' junior Rex Martin captured the male individual title, posting a 16:11 over a 5K course.

Sand Devils' senior Skyler Sandoval claimed third place with a 16:46 showing. Page junior teammate Trent Holiday was clocked in 16:53 for fourth place.

Flagstaff sophomore Lance Harris settled for runner-up, posting a 16:16.

Tuba City senior Demetrius Daw was timed in 17:01 for fifth place.

Show Low senior Reicken Cooke crossed the finish line in sixth place with a 17:05.

Window Rock's Burlander Kee, a junior, settled for seventh place, turning in a 17:05.

Malakai Hanson, a Northland Prep sophomore, posted a 17:08 for eighth place.

Kayenta Monument Valley senior William Wayne covered the course in 17:11for ninth place.

Pinon sophomore Daniel Biakeddy rounded out the top 10 with a 17:12 clocking.

Chinle finished second place in the male team standings with 146 points. Kayenta Monument Valley followed in third place, totaling 157 points. Other team scores were Show Low 175, Alchesay 185, Northland Prep 189, BASIS Flagstaff 195, Snowflake 200, Winslow 200, and Tuba City 247..

Next Saturday, November 2, Window Rock High School in Fort Defiance will host the 3A North Regional Cross Country Championships and Northern Arizona Intersccholastic Conference (NAIC) Cross Country Championships.

The NAIC girls championship begins at 10 a.m., followed by NAIC boys championship at 10:30 a.m.

The 3A North Regional girls championship is scheduled at 11 a.m. The 3A North Regional boys championship is set for 11:30 a.m.
