Bella Holsinger has been playing softball on and off for the last six years. This year she is a junior in high school and one of fifteen girls on the team. Holsinger’s position is in the outfield.

Holsinger absolutely loves playing softball and it has been very rewarding for her. She loves how much fun she is able to have, even saying, “The most fun part of playing softball this year is getting to go out and play with so many wonderful people. Every practice and every game are always so much fun due to the encouraging and positive atmosphere.”

Holsinger also appreciates the friendships she has formed from playing softball. “Playing softball has allowed me to meet and befriend new people.” Holsinger said.

Although softball has been lots of fun, Holsinger has also discovered many opportunities for growth. She has found that the majority of the challenges she faces are mental. Specifically, she says, “Some challenges I have faced are internal. While playing sports, it is easy to get down on oneself for making mistakes.”

While she has been challenged this season, Holsinger has also been able to learn a lot and improve immensely. She has learned many new techniques that have helped her improve her hitting and fielding.

As a whole, Holsinger is proud of her team and all that they have done and continue to do. She says, “Our team, as a whole, is full of very hardworking girls who never fail to encourage each other. While it has been a bit of a rough season for us in terms of the scores of our games, one thing that we have accomplished is being able to locate our problems, and improve them. We have done this, and we are slowly improving. One thing I hope to accomplish is to finish the season strong and to play to the best of our abilities.”

Holsinger is also thankful for her great coaches. “Our coaches have done a wonderful job leading the team as they always give the proper guidance to help us.”

The Gilbert Christian High School softball team has worked very hard this year. Their season is not over yet though, they still have several games which fans are more than welcome to come to and display their support for the team.
