KINGMAN — Noah Petrauschke threw for three touchdown passes and ran for another as Lee Williams claimed the Grand Canyon region title with a 38-21 victory over Bradshaw Mountain on Friday night.

It is the fifth straight win for the No. 7-ranked Volunteers (9-1, 5-0 4A Grand Canyon), which opened the regular season finale with two scores early and never looked back.

“[I’m] so incredibly proud of our team, coaches, school and community,” coach Stevann Brown said via text Sunday. “It was a collective effort of people believing in what could be and trusting the process.”

The Volunteers beat Prescott (36-33, Sept. 28), Coconino in overtime (20-14, Oct. 6), Flagstaff (58-13, Oct. 20) and Mingus (32-12, Oct. 27) on the road and beat the No. 12-ranked Bears (7-3, 3-2 4A Grand Canyon) in the home finale.

“Winning the region is one thing. To finish undefeated in the region and have outright possession of the title is another,” Brown said. “Our kids have been great all season, and we are excited for what’s next.”

Since the AIA went back to a regional and conference alignment (instead of divisions/sections) for football in 2016, Lee Williams is the fifth program to go undefeated in Grand Canyon region play.

Bradshaw Mountain did it in 2022 (5-0), Coconino went 6-0 in 2020 and 2019, while the Bears did it again (6-0) in 2016.

Petrauschke completed 11 of 19 passes for 242 yards and threw only one interception, while running 16 times for 155 yards.

Devin White caught five balls for 149 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Volunteers, while Thomas Doxtader caught four passes for 79 yards and a score.

“Noah [Petrauschke] was incredible,” said Brown, pointing to the fact that his quarterback also plays linebacker, tallying nine tackles and an interception in the win.

“Congrats to Lee Williams. They were the best team in our region this year. Their quarterback was the difference [Friday] night, he made big play after big play,” Bradshaw Mountain coach Bob Young said via text to AzPreps365.com on Nov. 4. “They are a very well coached team.”
