Sahuaro pulled out a 20-0 victory at Desert View Monday night after overcoming a defensive battle. The Cougars recorded a safety with 7:53 left in the first half and that 2-0 score lasted into the third quarter.

Sahuaro (2-0) was led by senior quarterback Kas Chung, who finished with 84 yards rushing on 17 attempts and 66 yards passing on six completions, put the Cougars up 8-0 on a 17-yard TD pass to Harmony Twito with 8:34 left in the third and she ran for a short score with 40 second left in the quarter to help build a 14-0 lead on Desert View.

Kayana Redlin ran for 18 yards for the 20-0 lead with 6:28 left in the game and Chung came up with an interception on defense with six minutes left to help put the game away. Redlin finished with 42 yards rushing and Twito had 39 yards receiving.  The Jaguars had difficulty moving the ball but their defense kept the team in the game.

Desert View host district rival Sunnyside (1-0) on Thursday and Sahuaro travels to Flowing Wells (2-0) on the same night. The first set of rankings will be released on Oct. 20.
