Pinnacle's bid for a state title this year won't be because Dorian Pickens and Trey Ingram are slouching. The duo continued on their final tour of prep hoops duty by combining for 44 points in a 74-64 win over Dobson in a Division I boys basketbal semifinal at ASU's Wells Fargo Arena.

Pinnacle (23-9) reached the final for the second year in a row and takes on the Corona del Sol-Perry winner on Saturday (March 1) at 3 p.m. at Jobing.com Arena. It was Pinnacle's first win over Dobson in three meetings this season and only Dobson's second loss in its last 19 games.

Pickens a four-year standout and Ingram three years with the varsity, netted 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the opening half. Pickens finished with 23 and Ingram had 21. They teamed up for 51 points in the quarterfinal win over Gilbert on Thursday with Pickens hitting for 36 and Ingram 15. Pinnacle took a 36-26 lead to intermission thanks to a walk-off 3 by Ingram.

Pinnacle appeared set to pull away with four minutes left in the third period at 43-29, but Dobson sliced the margin to 44-40 late in the quarter. A 13-6 run to open the final period spelled the end to Dobson's strong and surprising run to the final four.

Dobson (24-8) has made its living this season from 3-point range, connecting on more than 250 from long range. The Mustangs season average of 44 percent from behind the arc was wanting on Friday. The Mustangs made only 7 of 28 (25 percent).

Ryan Richardson, headed for Weber State and Kodi Justice on to ASU, scored 16 points each for Dobson. Richardson had his worst three-point shooting game of the season (1 for 11).
